Prenatal Classes
Couples classes cover the following :
• How the
body prepares itself for labour
• Positions; breathing; self help remedies
• Pain relief options – medical and non-medical
• How the birth supporter can help
• Physical and mental aspects of coping
with labour
• Early post natal period; what to expect;
breastfeeding
Women only classes
cover the same as the couples but with more
emphasis on the following
• Psychological
aspects of pregnancy and labour
• Breathing
• Movement
• Relaxation
• Practice positions for labour
“I
teach ‘active birth’ as women know
instinctively how to labour but sometimes
need ‘permission’ to utilize their
own coping strategies. My ultimate
goal is for the woman and her partner
to emerge through the birth process
physically and mentally intact." |
